Anthem is a planned community — built out all at once rather than growing organically over decades, which is why the streets, parks, and landscaping feel consistent from one end to the other.
It’s an HOA neighborhood, like most communities built this way. That means shared upkeep and some rules around how things look — worth knowing going in, whichever way you feel about it.
And there’s actually a lot going on here. Kids ride bikes to a community pool that doesn’t feel like an afterthought. Weekend mornings mean soccer games sprawled across a park big enough to lose track of which field is yours. There’s a grocery run, a coffee stop, and a nail appointment all in the same five-minute loop. And if golf’s your thing, Anthem Country Club’s got two championship courses tucked into the foothills — though that part of town is its own gated world, separate from the rest of Anthem.
The one real tradeoff: this is north. Far enough off I-17 that a downtown Phoenix or Scottsdale commute becomes part of your daily rhythm, not background noise. Anthem makes the most sense for people whose actual life — work, school, weekends — already happens up here, not for someone trying to split the difference with a job downtown.
